Description
Nancy Njeri, a recent graduate of a women’s college, has earned dual degrees in Public Health and Business Management, specializing in Leadership Development. She now intends to earn her Masters of Public Health with a keen focus on Women’s Global Health at Emory University. Her journey is fueled by a deep passion and determination into raising awareness and enacting change where it is needed most. Nancy’s experiences at the Taskforce for Global Health and The Black Girl Health Foundation have propelled her advocacy for maternal and neonatal health to the forefront. She strives to address the systemic challenges that contribute to maternal mortality in Kenya and the broader African diaspora. As an advocate, she strives to combat the preventable tragedies of maternal and neonatal deaths through education, improved access to healthcare, and community empowerment.
Through Miss Kenya USA, Nancy Njeri hopes to shed light on this disparity women face and to ensure every mother and child receives the care they deserve. Beyond forging connections with supporters locally and in Kenya, she is dedicated to leveraging this pageant platform to foster partnerships with NGOs and explore innovative solutions, with the ultimate goal of laying the groundwork for her own nonprofit organization. One that is dedicated to mentoring and empowering girls and women hailing from Swahili-speaking nations. She has witnessed how acquiring knowledge could change the trajectory of one’s life and affect those around them. While numerous factors may differentiate us as humans—be it race, tribe, religion, or gender—education, especially related to health, should not add to these divisions. Her vision for Kenya extends beyond charity; she views it as a country full of opportunity, the biggest advancement being human capital. She envisions herself as a catalyst for change, inspiring and educating girls and women to unlock their full potential to live longer, healthier lives through education that empowers and mentors. She is beyond humbled to run for Miss Kenya USA 2024 and with the title she is committed to creating a brighter, healthier future for mothers and newborns alike.
