Description

I was born and raised in Kikuyu Kenya, then moved to the USA as a young girl. I remember coming from a nice house in Kenya to sharing a single room with my parents in America. As immigrants, I witnessed my parents struggle hard to make ends meet to give me the American dream and that motivated me to be a hard worker and to know how to adapt very quickly. Both skills have helped me tremendously in navigating my young adulthood. I attend the University of Texas at Arlington, where I am a part of the African Student Union, which among other things, helps integrate African students into American culture. I am very excited for an opportunity that highlights the blending of these two amazing and unique cultures.
My desire to enter this pageant was steered by my platform, which is to create awareness about Alcoholism in men. Unfortunately I have a lot of male family members who have fallen victim to alcohol abuse. I have witnessed first hand the damages alcoholism causes not only to the victims; but the families whose dreams fall into dust, families broken apart, to premature deaths and much more. In an attempt to save the next generation from falling into the same cycle, I am creating a safe space for men to get professional help, by first removing the stigma behind the disease. My vision as Miss Kenya USA 2024, is to bring awareness and raise funds to support men’s rehabilitation centers, both in America and in Kenya.
